The NYT obituary of James Doohan today mentioned that, in Doohan's "farewell" program of a year ago -- when it was clear that the Alzheimer's was going to claim him and he decided to say goodbye while he still knew what it meant -- the Enterprise was represented by its crew plus a fellah named Neil Armstrong, who said that he hadn't gone back into space yet because he was holding out for a Starfleet command post, and that when he gets it, he hopes his engineer is as good as Scotty.
