improved interests meme

i should be in bed so i can spring from it early so as to be productive! but no. it's an insomnia night, of course, and i've exhausted my flist. but thanks to
firecat there is this meme. i am doing this one mainly for the laugh it'll give at least one other person. :)
the meme machine judged these interests of mine as "unusual": industrial archaeology, irreverent humour, parentheses (nested), snigglers, natural dyes, fibre arts, unintentional communities, noodling, britney spears (just kidding), gnus, practical philosophy, 3d animation and modeling, copyright reform, collecting other people's hobbies, boat building, woodblock printing, nina paley, optimistic cynicism, oh shiny!, news.groups, knowledge acquisition, pure delight, dyeing fiber, top-posting hatred
i'd say that's a good collection.
based on the LJ interests lists of those who share my more unusual interests, the interests suggestion meme thinks i might be interested in:
1. felting score: 11 -- yeah, it'd be in there if it weren't for the 150 limit on interests.
2. free software score: 11 -- ditto
3. dyeing score: 10 -- ditto
4. fiber arts score: 10 -- some of us spell it "fibre", dude.
5. fiber score: 9 -- ditto.
6. gnu score: 9 -- 150.
7. su.org.asm score: 9 -- *laugh*. that is pretty funny. i know exactly from whom this one was collected.
8. garb score: 8 -- not really. though i am getting more and more interested in fashion. weird, eh. it's all about the art of it, i think.
9. reenactment score: 7 -- naw.
10. stanford score: 7 -- vicariously. :)
11. living history score: 6 -- sorta, but not with much dedication. i will visit any and all faires and permanent exhibits for such things, but i don't participate, and i only research in very narrow subspecialties (such as dyeing). it's mostly of interest because of "how stuff works".
12. italian renaissance score: 6 -- i am sort of interested in history in general, but more in osmosis fashion, and not very specifically in the renaissance.
13. needlework score: 6 -- 150.
14. natural fibers score: 5 -- 150.
15. historical costume score: 5 -- remotely. more for looking than for making or even researching.
16. 16th century score: 5 -- see history. the one period in which i tend to get caught up is the english regency, thanks to georgette heyer.
17. historical fashion score: 5 -- see historical costume.
18. textile arts score: 5 -- fibre arts.
19. historical reenactment score: 5 -- not really. i mean, i will stop and watch it if i come across it, but i am not into it in any participatory sense.
20. blackwork score: 5 -- done it, not among my faves.

on 2005-06-21 23:41 (UTC)i don't actually use the interests for searching; i just use them to tell people who've already found me about the sort of stuff i care about.
