piranha: an aye-aye, a madagaskar lemur, with ears and hair standing out from its head (funny)
once a year or less i run through my bookmarks and clean out dead ones and those where, if i haven't used them in a year, i decide i probably won't use them again ever. always a dangerous choice for a pack rat, because invariably 2 months down the line i come across a perfect use for that URL, and it'll be a bitch to find it again.

anyway, i hadn't looked at nina's stuff in a while, and man, i've been missing totally awesome and cool developments! she's doing a feature, of the sanskrit epic ramayana, called sita sings the blues and there are samples on her site.

the champagne-bananas on my list will know who nina is. all you others should go find out (though maybe not today, since she just got boing-boinged). she's a cartoonist, and just keeps getting better.

damn straight, mr. harper -- except that sad spectacle wasn't the prime minister. it's you who's making a spectacle, and it's making me sad. well, not really. it's making me mad. why not let the gomery inquiry finish, so we know which liberals were the thieving bastards, and we can then make choices accordingly during the next election? why hurry it, when we don't know the whole truth of it?

i know why you don't want that. you're realizing that the more comes out, the less likely you will be able to hang any of this on martin, and the better he will look, because he didn't have anything to do with it, and instead was instrumental in getting us the enquiry.

you bastard. i am starting to think uncanadian thoughts about you (such as wishing you'd emigrate to the US, where your style of politics would be ever so quaintly centrist republican). ghod, i am thinking back fondly on the progressive conservatives every time your smug mug disgraces my television. and it's not like i ever liked mike harris either, *bleh*.

i've told myself that every bit of bad news or general bitching i post has to be followed by something good. if i dwell too much on negative things, i end up in the depression doldrums, which is a horrible place to be.

spain's lower house has just passed a bill to legalise gay marriage. the upper house is very probably going to follow suit.

this bit of data makes me happy: In an opinion poll on the issue carried out by the government-run Centre for Sociological Investigations last June, 66 per cent of Spaniards favoured legalizing gay marriage, while 26 per cent were opposed.

[edit] if you (like me) don't know much about the new spain, [livejournal.com profile] asciident has pointed to a great overview.
