huh. i don't rightly know what so many people are kvetching about; the size of this textbox resizes with the browser window width (in opera 7, at least). i really like the large window; text input boxes in web forms are usually way too small for me.

in fact i like the entire new layout. everything fits into my window, and i don't have to scroll at all anymore. that's a definite win. of course people with a lower resolution won't be so lucky, but they were unluckier before as well. the only quibble i have is that i don't need to know how to download a client from this page.

for those of you who hate it, you can use the portal, which retains the smaller input box, as well as some other goodies.

the kvetchers are using the Dystopia site scheme; in xcolibur the update page looks fine. :)

This kvetcher has been using Dystopia because XColibur is still broken on mine (the links don't work right, and they're all messy on top of it, so it's painful to look at.)

So in my case, it's "Can use this scheme which is broken this way, or that one, which is broken that other way, both of which are things I find important (posting and looking at the site). Erm. I'll go use the portal now I remember it's there and it works."

However, as of this morning, I get to look forward to a new computer in the near future, which will resolve many of these problems. Not everyone's so lucky, though.

(Like I said in my own journal: I'm using a 4.5 year old Graphite iBook with max. res of 800x600, and using Mozilla. And OS9, which means that my choice of usable browsers is not particularly huge. On the other hand, I strongly suspect I'm not the only LJ user using an older machine.)

Hey, I use Dystopia and it's broken for me, too -- I can't stand xcolibur. :P

In the classic scheme (is that the "dystopia" one?), it also fits nicely into my window, and resizes with the browser window width. However, it's also got a minimum width at which point it refuses to resize any smaller -- which is, of course, normal for such things; the part that is abnormal is that it reaches that point when my Opera 7 window is about 100 pixels smaller than my 1280x1024 screen. I shall not be pleased with this on my 1024x768 laptop screen -- which is still, as such things go, a fairly high resolution.

I like it, but it's a wee bit buggy - if you choose to "Custom..." (to post to one of your custom filters) and then either spellcheck or preview the post, it seems to drop the "custom" option. I haven't done a test post yet to see if it actually retains the filter you've chosen and just doesn't let you see it, though. (This on Mozilla; I suppose it could be a browser-dependent glitch.)

Personally, I like it. Now that it displays the correct icon when selecting them, that is. I like the layout, and the window size. 'Nuff said.

i'm having i think the same experience as pat--in opera i've not been able to get the "Custom" option to work with what i guess is dystopia so i update in IE. but the portal page doesn't drop down the "Custom" filter choice in either opera or IE, for me. and i *always* post to a filter of some sort, never just to "friends."
