update code change
Sep. 23rd, 2004 19:09huh. i don't rightly know what so many people are kvetching about; the size of this textbox resizes with the browser window width (in opera 7, at least). i really like the large window; text input boxes in web forms are usually way too small for me.
in fact i like the entire new layout. everything fits into my window, and i don't have to scroll at all anymore. that's a definite win. of course people with a lower resolution won't be so lucky, but they were unluckier before as well. the only quibble i have is that i don't need to know how to download a client from this page.
for those of you who hate it, you can use the portal, which retains the smaller input box, as well as some other goodies.

on 2004-09-24 10:52 (UTC)So in my case, it's "Can use this scheme which is broken this way, or that one, which is broken that other way, both of which are things I find important (posting and looking at the site). Erm. I'll go use the portal now I remember it's there and it works."
However, as of this morning, I get to look forward to a new computer in the near future, which will resolve many of these problems. Not everyone's so lucky, though.
(Like I said in my own journal: I'm using a 4.5 year old Graphite iBook with max. res of 800x600, and using Mozilla. And OS9, which means that my choice of usable browsers is not particularly huge. On the other hand, I strongly suspect I'm not the only LJ user using an older machine.)
