i saw saturn!
Jan. 12th, 2006 22:35complete with rings! and accompanying moon (probably titan)!
in all these years of my life i never actually managed to be near an observatory at a time when saturn would have been as well viewable as it is right now (and i didn't always pay attention either; my interest in astronomy goes in spurts).
last night the rain let up for a couple of hours, and we got another opening in the clouds like on new year's, and the paramour whipped out the telescope and managed to find the barlow with some judicious prompting of yours truly saying "no, not in those boxes, i am pretty sure". i am ever so helpful.
and there it was. it looked almost fake, like somebody had painted it with glow paint.
so very cool.
in other news i am totally busy, all day -- well, really all night and the part of the day that i don't sleep away. not sleeping much, though; don't want to. work, work, work, and having a great time of it. we'll see whether anything long-term comes of it, and i am not jinxing it by yapping about it before it's matured. but yeah, busy. not keeping up with anything else.
