Any chance of translation into Oblivious? I have no clue why you are showing us a picture of a swatch of plain wall. It's got some odd shine and coloration to it, like you photographed it inside a restaurant with weird lighting. But I have really no idea what I'm not seeing.

I feel really idiotic asking something that's probably so obvious it could bite my nose, especially since the other commenters have also indicated that it's obvious.

don't feel idiotic; i don't think it's intuitively obvious (and what's intuitive really varies a lot).

it's a dispersive prismatic refraction which results in a "rainbow", a colour spectrum from violet to red on the wall. and the rainbow is a GLBTQI symbol -- gay-lesbian-bi-transgendered-queer-intersexed.it was caused by the sun hitting an angled piece of glass in the restaurant where we were eating dinner, and it wasn't immediately obvious where the glass was.

Ah. then it's a monitor/browser issue as well. I saw a patch of wall that was orange with little speckles and darker at the top.

I was really thinking "this wall is plain and looks just like all other walls; we're just like all other people"--- you know, subtle reminders not to be intolerant. :-)
