Yay, native honeysuckle! Most unfortunately, many parks around here have the Asian variety, which is pretty, but Just Wrong. It's because so many local parks used to be farms; there are often hemerocallis patches as well.

is that lonicera tatarica? that's invasive here as well; i've seen it on the mainland, though not on the island itself. we also have natively lonicera dioic, lonicera hispidula, and lonicera involucrata; hispidula is very pretty as well.

I think so. The leaves and flower shapes look right, although here it's not mostly fuschia, it's either pale pink or white.

yeah, it often comes in pale pink to white; there are different cultivars, and even though these are invasive plants, garden centres seem to still sell them.
