so this week was filled with annoyances -- first the power company put up a new pole for us, and it took them rather longer than anticipated to move the lines. in the process they broke the phone connection. and of course the phone people couldn't come until the next day. now we have phone service back, but our internet is glacially slow; i guess that'll require another phone call.

despite all that i wasn't actually in a bad mood. we did a lot of geocaching and walking, out pretty much every day. then today i was cutting red cabbage on the mandoline, and sliced off a piece of the little finger on my right hand. woops. i actually managed to slap a bandage on it and compress it with paper tape before the blood started flowing and i became a little woozy from the shock. stupid body; it always wants to pass out for stuff like this, which is NOT an evolutionary advantage. i wasn't gonna do anything much other than compress it til the blood stopped and then rebandage it, but the paramour looked really worried and made hospital noises, so we went to the walk-in clinic. where they bandaged it and gave me a tetanus shot since i hadn't had one in ages. i had fished the piece of finger out of the cabbage, but didn't think they'd bother sewing it on, it was too small. so now i'll be DEFORMED. ah, gallows humour, it's a good thing to have; it entertains the staff at walk-in clinics. i am mostly holding the hand still because while it's not hurting badly, i don't want to change that, and gripping movements pull the finger and make it complain.

typing is alright though. and i am still not in too bad a mood.

Augh, that sounds painful! I'm glad it was just a tiny finger piece. O_o

LOVE this photo. Mmm, I wish I were there, where-ever there is.

Red cabbage - yummy! But best without added blood ... poor you! Hope finger heals quickly and isn't too painful meanwhile.

Ow. And pretty picture. Did they use an incredibly fine-gauge needle for the tetanus shot?
