on 2005-02-13 09:52 (UTC)Yes! At last! Republicans have been hammering Democrats with that "tax and spend" nonsense for decades now. Time to turn it around and keep humming the new mantra until it sticks.
I had some misgivings about Dean becoming DNC chair. Based on his behaviour during the primaries I was worried he would drag the party too far to the left, alienating the center and rendering them unelectable.
He has to walk a delicate line: bringing in enough radicalism to inject some excitement into the party and wake up its footsoldiers, without scaring or disenfranchising the moderate middle who still make up the bulk of voters.
From this speech, it looks like he understands that. Now to see if he can put it into practice. More power to him.
