piranhai think i need a new icon because of this idiocy over spongebob squarepants holding hands with patrick the starfish. and once again, the "united church of christ" comes to the rescue as a christian voice speaking without hatred, something badly, badly needed in these times of loud and hateful christian voices. so, spongebob squarepants and patrick are welcome in the UCC, who says that jesus' message of welcome extends to all.
Thomas explained, the 1.3-million-member church, if given the opportunity, would warmly receive Barney, Big Bird, Tinky-Winky, Clifford the Big Red Dog or, for that matter, any who have experienced the Christian message as a harsh word of judgment rather than Jesus' offering of grace.
a sense of humour doesn't hurt a church either, i'd say.
