Oh, yeah. That was an accidental power cut all right.

And I'm Marie of Romania.

Hi, Marie! ;)

Well, my understanding is that the actual power was restored in in under an hour; the bulk of the time was LiveJournal-specific, bringing all the servers up to speed and making sure that nothing got lost/corrupted/destroyed

No argument. But the idea that someone accidentally fell against the emergency power cut button, then pulled it out, replaced its safety cage, and wandered off without telling anyone is just a little over the top.

No, I don't blame Internap or Brad for not making accusations. Unless there's positive proof, it's a legal quagmire.

But accident? Far more likely that someone decided to press the big red button to see what'd happen. Yes, IMO.

I'm not LJ-Bashing here. I'm just snickering at the claim that it was an accidental push of the big red button.

I've seen the button. I cannot conceive of a situation in which it would be pressed accidentally.

Just sayin'.

I've been through the "moron thought it was a door opener", and, yes, ours are now encased in happy little boxes.

Thankfully nobody has tried the "open box, push button, reset button, close box, walk away" trick. If they do they will be deeply unpopular, and given the size of some of my fellow systems group staff, probably deeply bruised as well.
