I'm sorry to do this to you but you have been so helpful and I notice your finprints all over the wiki, so you seem like the right person to whinge at.

Firstly, my second attempt at crossposting to livejournal failed. I got an email telling me it'd failed, no further info. I have no idea what went wrong, it was simple text to LJ. Only thing I can think of that's different is that my LJ is set to screen all comments not made by people on my flist, but this wasn't a locked post. I ran a second test, it's also failed, again I have no clue why.

Secondly, I'd like to import my LJ (given its been recommended to try before 30th) but I'm a bit nervous that it won't work for me if I can't crosspost.

Thirdly, when I followed your recommendation to beta-upgrade my account to paid, nothing happened. I do not appear to be able to beta-upgrade my account. Now I don't know if my crossposting problem is actually some setting back here in DW. (skip that, now I can upgrade to paid. I think it confuses me that the pulldown menu stays on "free account" - my visual system pays more attention to that as a marker of my current status than the actual text of status above. I realise there is no point fixing this for beta-upgrade, but it might be a general usability issue for brains like mine.)

I will tentatively try the import later today (currently 11:30, planning to try import at 14:30, I'm at work you know ;-)) unless you advise me not to.

I'm just feeling a bit nervous and stressed about not being able to crosspost and not seeing any reason for what's wrong. I get a message about attempting to crosspost to LJ and then the failure email, so it's not that I'm not ticking enough tickyboxes :-).

Oh, the picture of the coral bark maple is gorgeous and the totoro creampuffs make me want to try to make them too.

I don't think there's anything like mass changes applying to my LJ, I will try the import and see how it goes.

As for techy things, when I was paid to be a programmer we used bugzilla. However I still refuse to learn Perl. I am certainly not bothered by hunting for info in very technical language - I'm a scientist, it's par for the course.

The import ran okay, I haven't had time to look over the results yet But the icons turned up. I also am a little confused by some of the messages in my inbox from the process.

I've begun to look at the import. I have one complaint so far - my LJ biog overwrote my DW biog and I quite liked some of the stuff I wrote for DW. (Interests seem to have been meshed successfully). If there's somewhere I can drag out the previous text so I can edit some of it back in, I wouldn't say no.

Otherwise, it's looking good.

Why intuitive? It merged my interests, as I said. And I did want those.
(sorry, you've already *snrk*ed.)

This email basically:

A status update about your import.
Unknown status update.

It's after friends groups and before bio. I don't know if that means something failed. (the others are all "X imported successfully") I don't know what messages are supposed to appear and in what order. Maybe it's the "Ooops, I see you have a bio already. Never mind" message :-).

Thanks for being so available. If you're still around (we had to take the cat to the vet, and then had to wait because there was an emergency - a man had run over his own cat in his driveway, he was a wreck, the cat had to be put down, then I had to make dinner...)

I use Adium, I have a .mac aol account and a google talk account, and I'm also on skype somewhere although I haven't used it for ages, I assume the application is on this computer somewhere.

Anyway, I imagine google talk? I'm also aquaeri there.

We were having a bit of a chat here about how late it must be for you there. Tomorrow, I'll be home 5-7pm (must be midnight-2am for you), which is not great. The day after (Wednesday for us, I think Tues for you), I hope to be home pretty much all day, so we should be able to work something out then.

Our cat was in for a confirmatory test that what was wrong with her last week was temporary (she ate the wrong thing, a spider maybe?) and not chronic geriatric renal failure. We don't get results until tomorrow.

In the meantime, I have cross-posted to LJ. The problem was when I set up the aquaeri at LJ stuff on DW, it autofilled my password, but it wasn't my LJ password, it was my DW password. This would probably be obvious to anyone else.

I think part of my problem is that I let firefox remember passwords, and I have 1Password. And there's possibly some DW default behaviour as well. Anyway, when I am offered a password with autofill I have no clue which of these is supplying it and based on what reasoning. 1Password has my LJ password but not my DW password yet, so if it was it doing the autofill, it would have been the correct one.

Passwords

I think my experience this morning was interesting - I'd been logged out of DW overnight and had to log back in. And the autofill password looks to have been my LJ password (it's slightly longer, so when I'm really paying attention to that field, I can guess which one it is) - because the last password I typed in on the DW site was my LJ one for fixing crossposting.

Is this actually a DW issue, a firefox issue, or the way they play together? It doesn't strike me as ideal behaviour. (I'm pretty sure I can eliminate 1Password as a cause, the current version asks for your master password before filling).

Note that this is something that's harder for you to test because I imagine part of the issue is that my LJ and DW names are the same.
