That's smart thinking, bout the subjects! I am too lazy (or too un-inspired) to do so I guess ;-)

I read something on DW that they were looking into comment threading for gmail as well.. I think. I have no idea /where/ I read that tho - if I by accident run into it again I'll let ya know!

yeah, we discussed it in the IRC channel as well, so something will be done about it -- personally i like prefilling the subject. we'll see. it won't be done right now, but quite possibly during open beta, since it annoys a lot of people.

Prefilling the subject makes a lot of sense. It's not like people fix even deliberately changed subjects that are no longer descriptive, anyway. And in the long run it might encourage people to choose better titles for their posts.

(What happens in gmail threading if one posts several times with the same title and gets comments with autofill subjects? Or is that caveat posteor? (my latin sucks)).
