ok, so our coons now come out during broad daylight to eat cat food. damn, i overexposed this shot, but i still love it. |
the daily good thing about dreamwidth:
the development team is predominantly female. is there another open-source project like this? i don't know of any.

on 2009-04-05 20:24 (UTC)and i am starting to worry whether the cat food is actually good for racoons. i already know feeding wild animals isn't sensible because it might get them dependent, but coons are pretty darn good at adaptation. *sigh*.
Re: cat/coon interactions
on 2009-04-06 06:36 (UTC)wikipedia cites a german source that indicates that raccoons fed on cat food for a long time are prone to developing gout -- to much protein. some of the exotic pet sites and wildlife rehab people recommend dry dog food instead.
Re: cat/coon interactions
on 2009-04-06 08:20 (UTC)hm. well, that's not easy to change, because the main reason the cat food is out there is for the outdoor cats. two of whom will come inside, but the third one is still too feral.
