yard work today. it's fall; the weather has started to turn towards the rainy season, the first leaves are turning, the nights are crisper and cooler, hummingbirds and swallows are gone, hawks and geese are migrating right over our heads (yay, pacific flyway), and many smaller birds are flocking.

I love this photo. The patterns and colors really draw my eye - it's the first time I've really ever noticed all the colors in a piece of eroded land.

that looks like it's right along a line of division between soil types, and if it got long enough, there'd be an escarpment.
