lavatera / malva?

i want to say lavatera, but i am not sure. it's too large to be a native malva; it's about a metre tall. probably a garden escapee.

I'd guess that you're spot on with the garden escape. It looks almost exactly like the mallow my mom had planted in our yard when I was a kid - yours is a slightly darker pink, but the petal shape, patterns, etc., are just what I remember. Not that I know what ours was called, either.
