i am totally thrilled. the nearest laundromat closed a while ago, and ever since i've been lusting after a washing machine. but we don't have room for a regular-size one, and i've been on the lookout for one of danby's small models but couldn't find one in town. well, yesterday, while trying to buy a new DSL modem since ours is giving up the ghost, i saw this little cutie at london drugs. (no luck on the DSL modem, and i have a rant ready about the morons at telus.)

today we went and bought it.

now i am doing laundry, and i am a very happy camper. it can do 4kg of dry laundry at a time, which is just about perfect for us. it has little casters so we can roll it out of the way, and it can either be hooked to a proper hot/cold water outlet, or to a faucet. i hooked it to the kitchen faucet. it's so quiet!

tomorrow or monday i'll buy one of those 50m umbrella dryers and dig a hole in the yard to install it.

I have a DSL modem that I have no use for. If you want to pay shipping on it, I'll gladly ship it to you!

Washing machines are an amazing blessing. I was so happy when I didn't have to lug all of my laundry to the laundromat (I'm lazy, and it would build up to the point where it was hard for me to carry).

My first washer was a very small one - I think it was smaller and cheaper (in the tacky plastic sense) than yours. I could only wash one pair of jeans (with some other stuff, but still) at a time. But I really loved it. I had it hooked in to the sink, and the only problem I had with it was that sometimes the drain hose would flip out of the sink and pour soapy water all over the floor. Fortunately, my downstairs neighbors never complained. Yours looks nice and shiny and solid.

That looks infinitely better than the Wonder Wash!

well, it's in a different class than the wonderwash. i've eyed that little thing for quite a while, and i really like the concept of using a washer that doesn't need electricity. but it's so small. and i'd have to get a separate unit for wringing the laundry, because doing it with my hands is no longer a good idea.

so while we live on land, this machine seems like a better fit. but i'll probably get a wonderwash and a roller wringer for the boat.
