it's an unremarkable photograph, but this is what a fair bit of the uncultivated land looks like on our small peninsula -- second growth forest, and much water in the form of small watercourses that widen frequently into tiny lakes, and all of this stays wet throughout the summers. it's too overgrown to canoe, portaging is impossible through the dense and swampy undergrowth, but it's great habitat for smaller wildlife, and lovely to visit on foot through a maze of unofficial paths made by local folks who like to fish or wander.
the only thing really missing IMO are moose. there should be moose.
