chase river falls
Jul. 5th, 2008 21:07don't actually know the proper name since these falls are hidden away behind the old storage reservoir and i've never heard anyone else talk about them. we came upon the top (which doesn't provide much of a view) during a short walk in the rain, exploring around the reservoir (which isn't very explorable) and had figured out how one might get to the bottom without sliding down the steep inclines near the highway overpass. today we actually tried that while walking in colliery dams park. and much to our surprise, the falls were actually this nice this late in the year -- the chase river never runs completely dry, but the waterlevel does fall precipitously after the spring runoff.
walklog:
07-05 colliery dams park with side trip to chase river falls, 2.53 km, 1:28, 512m elevation gain.
