walklog:

6-12 buttertubs marsh, 2:61 km 1:06. great wildlife evening: 3 beavers, 2 ospreys (one of which was making an enormous racket while circling overhead), a western painted turtle, and the usual bevy of ducks. it's the first time that i've seen either osprey or beavers here; clearly walking late in the evening is the time to go because fewer yuppies use the trail for running -- and this is the first year since the nesting pole was put into the marsh that ospreys seem to be taking up residence and building a nest. that's pretty damn exciting. want that big honking telephoto lens more than ever. :)
