especially for the *poing*:

walklog:

6-02 nanaimo river estuary off raines road: short amble; forgot my GPS thingie, but it was probably no more than a klick. eagles! right at the start, on an island in the river, close enough for even my measly camera to get a halfway decent shot. lots of grasses and sedges in bloom, and some interesting plants that grow in boundary conditions. must come back to see whether i can find the wild asparagus i saw last year.

and now eating and then back to bed.

How close did they let you get? There are a few eagles in my area (one nest that I know of within half an hour of my house), but they're not exactly sociable, so even with a honkin' big lens I've only been able to get enough of a picture that you can tell it's an eagle.

these were unusually close, though across the channel of the river -- maybe 50 ft. this is probably my best eagle picture as far as being close and having them unobstructed instead of in a tree. one of them flew off right after i took this picture -- they're generally quite wary.

this and the yellow flowers are close to each other on my friends page and the thing that i notice is the sea of yellow and then a sea of blue-gray stones--i love these.

i don't comment on every picture but i do love seeing them, thank you.
