hellebore

i find the sexual organs of plants much more fascinating than those of humans.

(hellebore, supermarket, don't know which cultivar -- but i love the colours.)

Wonder what they're doing genetically to get their petals to be little nectaries like that. Judging by the prevalence of doubling, it's easily broken. Hmm, and it's in the Ranunculaceae so might be close enough to Aquilegia and Thalictrum to share some genomic tools...

aquilegia looks mighty funky too; i have some really nice closeups. i don't have enough experience with thalictrum -- in fact i have for a long time looked for another meadow-rue in the wild after i saw the first one in an area that is now "no trespassing", but no luck. i should check what sort of ecosystem they like so i can search with a bit more clue.

Fascinating they may be but imo they lack on stimulation rate... Image
Maybe, if there was some hot play with seeds fertilizing said organs I'd reconsider!

Wow. And writhing.

(Are the color channels squashed around, or is there just that much ambient green?)
