nope, no confusion. "poof" is english slang just like "poofter" -- probably more common, IME (though somewhat outdated now).

I live and learn. I don't recall ever hearing of that usage before. Of course, given that I've been shaving my head for several years now, hairdressers of all types are non-issues anyway.
