steampunk computing

i would love to build something like this. i've always thought that it's too bad computers come in ugly beige cases -- that expresses nothing of how i feel about what they've done for my life. i'd like something instead that has gravitas, solid permanence. wood, bronze, and copper. :)

I've thought about making a koi pond case mod. And some of the mods out there are pretty cool. Your idea sounds pretty attractive, too.

Some of the artistic case mods are genuinely cool, but I definitely feel that almost all the stuff major computer makers have done over the years to make their computers look "cool" have looked worse (often a lot worse) than a beige box.
