on 2006-08-12 17:34 (UTC)you can do other things with it; add it to soups or stews (very late), and there are medicinal uses. i don't do any of these things because it's a summer herb for me; it doesn't dry real well, and i don't keep a plant alive during the winter.

on 2006-08-12 17:38 (UTC)Oh, coolness
on 2006-08-13 18:45 (UTC)Are those really cheery tomatoes? They look small enough to be current tomatoes, which I prefer to most cherry tomatoes.
I'm pretty much at the end of my tomato season. I'll get a couple more weeks of large ones, and a few more beyond that of the current tomatoes. I'm at war with the stink bugs, too!
Here's what I picked today: http://home.mindspring.com/~pamrudd/id2.html
Re: Oh, coolness
on 2006-08-13 19:22 (UTC)they're definitely cherry tomatoes; just not very large exemplars of the type -- the soil in which i'm growing them isn't very good, and these are the very first ones.
i've never grown currant tomatoes (never even seen them on offer anywhere here), but i am growing grape tomatoes for the second year, and they're bearing tremendously. pretty cool for mediocre soil. the tomato season is just starting for me; i was as usual a little late in planting them, and they're not in an ideal spot.
got a really low incidence of pests this year -- yay.
oh, that basket looks wonderful! what a bounty!
