still busy
Dec. 4th, 2005 23:55still in this organising frenzy. got my disks defragmented, the registry cleaned, and made an inroad on deinstalling programs i no longer use, as well as tossing out zip archives of programs i've long since zapped.
also, am continuing to review font managers -- people ask themselves why there are sometimes 50 different programs to do any one task set, this is why: because a person who could program tried to find something to suit zir needs and struck out; they all didn't quite do things right, and the person able to program would have liked to combined aspects of 3 or 4 different ones. *sigh*. i do not really want to write my own font manager.
it's cold here; too cold really. not too cold in an absolute sense (*snrk*), just too cold for where we are and what we think it should be. the snow that fell a few days ago has mostly melted, but only because the sun was out during the day, not because it has actually warmed up significantly.
we tried out a new food experience -- there's a little place called pirate chips on commercial street that sells most excellent french fries. the paramour bowed to the goddress supreme of french fries afterwards, they were that good. also, home-made tartar sauce. i usually hate tartar sauce because it tastes first and foremost of some sharply bitter preservative, but this one had lemon and dill and was yummy. also also: deep-fried nanaimo bars! OMG, delicious heart attack on a plate. the proprietor has been around the world, and learned to sail in amsterdam, from portuguese sailors -- do i know how to pick them, or what? and she just ran for mayor, *heh*. it was amusing to chat with her; she was recounting how she spent $42 on her campaign, and got 340+ votes, which was more bang for the buck than the mayor who got elected. she's the sort of person i wish there were more of -- spunky, friendly, always willing to try something new. we shall go eat there more often. open til 3 am friday and saturday nights!
angela says the proof is in the poutine.
ps. a hearty welcome, and have a pineapple yourself, to don piven!

on 2005-12-05 08:27 (UTC)There is a place here on Commercial Drive that has waffle fries - best fries ever - and deep fried Mars Bars.
I find the coincidence somewhat amusing. And would like to try the deep fried Nanimo bar. Heart attack on a plate, indeed.

What's a Piven?
on 2005-12-05 21:13 (UTC)I haven't seen or heard anything from Don in a really long time. Is he actually visible here on LJ, or did he just let you know that he's lurking?

on 2005-12-11 19:17 (UTC)And yes, I am again wasting recreational time on another avatar char. What the heck. I had a couple spare eliminators sitting around.
Don could come to the Spokane area; the mayor was just recalled for random acts of stupid hypocrisy.
