everytime i visit vancouver, i think to myself that i could easily live there and enjoy it. it's an interesting city, with some distinct neighbourhoods, and i never spend enough time there. i think that once the boat is in the water, it would be cool to head on over and stick around for a month or so.

we got an inauspicious start by missing the 15:00 ferry -- not because we weren't there on time, but because the sailing filled before they got to our lane. on thursday afternoon. weird. even for a thanksgiving weekend. well, it didn't really matter; we walked off and bought fish and chips at a new restaurant next to the shipyard in which we had the boat when we first hauled it. from then on, everything went smoothly; we got to vancouver after rush hour, and anyway, getting from horseshoe bay to burnaby is a cinch. we were originally gonna leave the truck, but the parking is now handled by a private company, and they charge too much for longterm parking. the hotel had free parking, and it was convenient to have the truck, even though i did not bring back lots of chinese groceries.

check-in was so fast that by the time i walked up from the parking garage after dropping the paramour at the front, zie was actually waiting for me. up to our room, nice, spacious, good beds, quiet. we just went out quickly to buy some snack foods, and hit the sack. hadn't had much sleep the night before.

speaking of hitting the sack, wow, i am dead tired now as well. will write con report tomorrow. (and email to *poing* -- missed you!)
