for president?

for real or a hoax? google news finds only one reference, which doesn't seem to know anything not connected with that website.

that'd be an uphill campaign. just think of all the uncomplimentary, nevermind outright scary pictures of him out there. :)

[edit 2005-08-15: hoax. walken's publicist said it's not true.]

See, Hollywood has it right. They cast CW in all those roles that require heavy special effects to do the things like flying and setting people on fire, thus saving money, because Christopher Walken can actually do that.

He's the most evil man in Hollywood!

Hmm.

Well, he'd be better than what we have.

Prolly neither for real nor a hoax. I suspect that actors announce that they want to seek political office when they want publicity but can't get a splashy marriage or divorce. I suspect it's a public affirmation of "I wish Susan Sarrandon would invite me to her parties" or "Why hasn't Jay Leno told any jokes about me recently?"

[encyclopedia-brown]One sign that it is not even a half-baked plan of action is that one does not run for President of the United States. One runs for the presidential nomination of a specific party, and Mr. Walken does not indicate which party he is registered with in his press release. [/encyclopedia-brown]

publicity stunt?

maybe. i don't know, i didn't get that feeling, but that and 25 cents don't even buy a cup of coffee anymore.

the party affiliation is a good thought, but i figured somebody who as yet has no more of a published platform than campaign reform, military funding, and stem cell research might not actually have decided on a party for which to run. this sort of thing might well depend on whether one's political career consists of rising through the ranks, or having success in a completely different field, and then waiting for the parties to fall all over each other to court one.

it's kind of an interesting thought -- whenever i idly contemplate what i'd want to do if i ever were in such an office, i don't start out with a party affiliation either, i think about issues.
