Free associating...
on 2007-09-27 17:16 (UTC)Affection clicks quietly and steadily. A familiar clock, or a cooling radiator, a sound barely at the threshold of consciousness that makes home feel like home.
Autumn is sharp and complex. A flaky, crystalline rock surface that invites exploring touch.
A conversation can make any kind of shape, that's the point of it. The best kind make swirly, intricate patterns that draw the eye deep, like a meditative miniature maze.
Kittens are made of kitting. There aren't many things that feel like kittens that aren't kittens. Chenille comes closest.
Curiosity screeches shrilly, squeals and squees.
Knowledge smells like woodsmoke. Bright autumn afternoons, fear and promise mingled. The strong scent of the smoke overlaid on all the subtler, unnamed odours, fertility and decay.
Life is punctuated with joy. Happiness so intense that time seems to stop for an instant, but you can't expect a moment to linger longer than a comma.
Death tastes like the smell on my hands when I've been handling money.

on 2007-09-27 17:23 (UTC)What sound does affection make? - Prrrrrrrrrrrrr!
What texture does Autumn have? - Deceptive. It should be velvety-soft, but it's actually thin and brittle.
What shape does a conversation make? - depends on the conversation. The best ones are a crocheed blanket.
What fabric is a kitten made of? - can't be too synaesthetic here. Too much shedding, and too much desire to spin cat-lint into knitting yarn.
What noise is made by curiosity? - A rising-tone Mrrrp?
What is the smell of knowledge? - Null. I don't get scent-sensations. Or scent-memories.
How do you punctuate life? With parenthesis and dashes; sometimes semicolons.
What does death taste like? - metallic and grainy. Which is more of a mouthfeel, I guess. Flavor-wise, it's a bit sour.

Whatever $#%#$%# shape it wants. Some flow between wide banks, some branch, some are like origami, others like a dull solid brick of folded newsprint.
