dear hartley bay
Mar. 24th, 2006 18:02you all completely rock. if i am ever on a sinking ferry, i hope i am lucky enough to be near a community with people like you.
i think the replacement ferry should be named after you. i am also trying to think of something useful with which to thank you. maybe a donation to the community centre -- if anyone can think of something cool, please let me know; i'm feeling sorta uncreative in that area today.
also, the crew must have handled this amazingly well; it sounds like except for 2 people, everyone got off the ship in time, and without major injuries -- and all of this in the middle of the night with most people having been asleep, in driving rain and high seas. if anything, i feel safer about riding the ferries now; i think the record is actually very good, considering the number of passengers carried and the many trips made in all kinds of weather. i'm glad that the replacement vessels will no longer be single-hull, single-compartment -- they sink too bloody quickly if holed. of course our boat won't be any better, *wry sigh*.
