i can't find
Mar. 14th, 2005 21:11my camera cable. and i have peectures to upload. *grump*. this is the sort of thing that happens when i go into spring cleaning mode. but at least the bathroom and kitchen are clean, and the living room has been vacuumed.
the more CSI miami there is without david caruso, the better. i wonder whether there are any criminalist bloggers.
i must try to get back into the daily update routine, even if i feel nonverbal.
much happened, aside from cleaning, though i am proudest of the cleaning, since i usually start to fall down on that job when the paramour is home -- mostly from mistaken perception that noise and activity would be bothersome. this time i am pushing through that. and it's great to stay on top of things, dishes and all.
on saturday we went to port alberni, to the rock, mineral, and gem show. it was just large enough to provide for enough fun without resulting in foot aches. i got a pile of small discard slabs with pretty patterns, and a rock that could be mookaite. and we supported a local artist who paints cute animals on rocks (not usually the sort of thing i am into, but these are actually nifty, since they incorporate patterns from the rocks into the paintings), by buying the paramour a piece of "ocean picture rock" with otters (i need to find out what that rock actually is; it's got a lovely aqua colour [1]). and while i was otherwise occupied, the paramour acquired my personal favourite, dolphins on BC jade to hand me later as a surprise gift. mmh, surprise gift.
after the show we found ourselves a chinese smorgasbord (i still crack up everytime i see such a thing advertised), and then went to the harbour quay for a digestive walk. port alberni is really cleaning up its waterfront, like so many BC communities. good thinking. i got some nice texture shots, but it was too late to take decent landscape photos -- the alberni inlet is so beautiful, but i suck at landscape; it requires more care and setup than i usually invest, so it's not surprising really.
the drive back happened in the dark -- i can't wait for the days to get even longer. that drive is beautiful, lots of amazing views. next time i want to stop at cathedral grove and take some pictures of the huge, old redwoods.
[1] found it: local name for a brownish, brecciated, carbonate-bearing silicified serpentinite with veinlets of pale blue to white quartz; occurs near midway, BC. the name is well-chosen.
