piranhawell, not entirely. :) i have forgotten a lot about my early attempts to play the guitar. but i remember some stuff that's coming in handy now -- i learned classical guitar, and i find that the standard seat suits me much better than anything else (guitar on elevated left leg, neck at 45°). i remember some basic chord families, except that i never learned to finger for strumming, just for arpeggio style playing, so i have to learn some additional finger placement. in general, i think what i was taught for fingering was good technique (i don't think my teacher sucked as regards his knowledge; he just sucked at teaching the personality i had).
what's best is that i have grown a bit more since my teens, and this guitar fits me so well that i can play the abominable Fmaj without much of a problem. i remember swearing at that up and down; it would buzz on me all the time. and now i can play it clean and clear. this rocks.
but *ow*, my fingertips hurt -- steel strings are HARD. and calluses do not stick around for 30 years. :)
