i don't think anyone will be able to guess what this is (it's slightly gross).

walklog:

8-22 long mailbox walk, 2.45 km, 0:41.

nothing even vaguely exciting happened today.

My first guess, too. If only for the "slightly gross".

Heh. I thought dog vomit...but I think slime mold is far less gross.

Red algae bloom with a dried surface skin?
A largish fungus?

Does it involve something that came from Pizza Hut?

("OK, so pureeing sauce and cheese for the senior market share ain't gonna work. Next?")

yes, exactly. i have a small collection of close-ups of things most people would find gross, but i find them beautiful. gotta show you the feathery mold on the roasted chicken carcass some time.

It looks like a dangerous skin eruption to me.

Got another idea:

Were you forced to remind the paramour that a can of tomato soup does not have to be heated for six hours prior to consumption?

Granted, it does make it easier to peel it off the inside of the pan, though...

now, see, that's good. except that i am much more likely to do such things than the paramour is. i like to test the material of our pots for heat fastness, you know -- it's all for the sake of science!
