grindelia stricta

small yellow flowers like asters, only more cup-shaped

gumweed, native to BC. i know nothing (yet) about it.

It's part of my cold-care formula. Sometimes I don't have any, because I make the extract from the fresh flower buds and I have to grow them myself (second year - first year is just leaves). Fascinating very sticky/resin-y buds. I should look it up again - pretty sure it contributes to the lung tonic / expectorant part of the formula. Interesting aromatic scent.

the buds are really sticky, whence the name, maybe? but alas that doesn't come across in photos -- i wish they served more than one sense, *heh*. can you imagine, photos with smell and touch? mmmh.
