ice crystals



on the hood of the truck. they remind me a little of caltrops -- i am seeing a tiny, tiny me on a genetically modified kirin, gallopping through these fortifications.

i've clearly been watching too much shounen anime.

WOah! How on earth did you do that? What is the scale of those? They look as if they would be too tiny to photograph, but I suppose some of your other pics have been really close-up macros so obviously you have the tech and ability to do that.

they're not quite as small as one might think, but my camera's macro feature can get the lens as close as 2 cm (3/4") to an object.



in the bottom left is the gap between the fender and the hood as a reference marker; that gap measures about... *tromps outside with flashlight and tape measure*... 6 mm.

I really like this picture too, it looks sort of alien landscape-ish. And thank you for measuring the scale for me, I wasn't expecting that much effort for an idle question. I have actually seen ice crystals that big, so now the picture makes sense.
