the winters here tend not to be very cold

but this winter has been warmer than usual, with barely any hard frost -- as these apples prove since they're still bright yellow on the tree in the middle of january.

You are a gifted photographer, piranha. No lie. Your eye is blowing me away with these shots.

totally agree. and here the apples look like they're cascading down from the sky, or floating in midair among the branches -- the contrast in tone is so enormous from the wintry leafless tree.

thank you! i have gotten a lot better since i got the digicam because i can now shoot shoot shoot, without worrying how expensive it is to develop film. not only can i shoot at different exposures if i am not sure what will work best, but it also helps to have 5 different shots of the same scene from slightly different angles because then i can pick the best later when i finally see them full-size, or crop the most interesting bits. all that practice has improved my overall composition a lot, i now often see good pictures of random little stuffthat i wouldn't have noticed some years ago, before i even look through the viewfinder.

i'm happy people are enjoying these. :)
