every single scan in this chapter, and there are 33 of them, is grainy, slightly blurred, crooked, and has a gutter shadow. i am not allowing myself any translating until they are all clean and crisp.

I think that may even be worse than the ones I'm working on. O_O; It looks great though. My scans have a lot of the gutter shadow. I don't really know how to fix that though since it goes into the actual image itself. ^^; I'm not too worried about it being perfect, so long as it is clear enough to actually see. But man, I feel bad giving you that chapter now. ^_^;

oh nono, don't feel guilty -- i originally wanted to do both chapters, remember? i am just whining because i have to fight my desire to translate. :) i am doing these up to a higher standard than needed because i like the practice. and because, if hochuuami doesn't continue to work on this, i will eventually attempt the translation myself, and the scans might as well be up to snuff then.

i want to join a scanlation group as an editor, and the more of this stuff i do, and the faster i get at it, the better it is. hey, at least these are not GREEN -- the worst raws i've seen lately were those of the latest viewfinder chapter taken with a digicam; i practiced on some of those too.

gutter shadows are hard to fix -- you basically need to do graduated masks and then level something like 5-10 pixel strips at a time, moving or contracting the mask after each levelling.

XD I'd love to join as an editor myself. Last time I checked Hochuuami was actually looking for editors. I'm thinking of e-mailing them asking for a test.

I didn't mean to imply I wasn't doing my own to a high standard, because aside from the gutter shadows, I'm being very careful about the leveling and all that. If Hochuuami doesn't continue and you want to scanslate, instead of doing it all yourself I'd be happy to join forces. That way you don't need to translate & edit in the text/sfx etc. Plus like you said, it's good practice.

D: That sounds complicated. I'll try it if I get to pages where it's really bad. I won't bother to go back and fix the ones I already did, though. ^^;
