bush impeachment

it seems some state legislatures might be pushing it, despite the low chances for success in the republican-controlled congress. illinois and california both have proposals in the works.

good to see a growing groundswell of support for holding the shrubwad responsible for his lies.

i know i shouldn't read the news when i am depressed, and today was generally no exception, but i felt too out of what's going on in the world, so it had to be done. and these two items cheered me a little.

I saw this after my recent newsbreak recommendation. Carry on. ;-)

IIRC the california proposal includes cheney.

i am not, however, opposed to getting rid of bush just because that would leave cheney at the helm. i think it's high time that he is standing right up there having fingers pointed at him, instead of being able to hide comfortably behind the VP mantle.

I *think* I am opposed, only because I believe cheney to be every bit as evil as bush, and getting a second impeachment in a term would be impossible. If we get to throw out the shrub and chain with the bathwater, then yeah. I want bush to be accountable for what he has done, and punished for what he has done to people's lives, not removed from office and sent on his way with an impeachment.

"Judgement in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgement and Punishment, according to Law."
