noticeable side effect

i am quite a bit more irritable.

I have chronic insomnia, and both St. John's Wort and Tryptophayn HTP something were recommended to me as sleep aids. They both made me extremely irritable, which said to me that my problem is not serotonin related.

SJW made me weirdly buzzy the first time I took it (when my depression was probably situational rather than anything else). I can easily see how the sensation would translate into irritability for a lot of people - it made me really uncomfortable, and it was unpleasantly close to the sensation I get when PMSing or going through other hormonal changes, which really does make me irritable.

Me too.
In my case, however, I think it has something to do with the background wallpaper here - looking like someone placed a large pane of glass over a hairy man's chest (kind of like "pressed ham").

Or is it just me?

PMS-y describes that feeling exactly.

pressed ham? *blink*

maybe it is just you, but there's no reason to suffer so profoundly -- appending "?style=mine" when reading anybody else's LJ will show it in your own style preference (the default if you haven't set up anything specifically).

Ooh! That's a neat trick. I shall endeavour to remember it.

I think I got my copy from [livejournal.com profile] jwz (http://www.jwz.org/hacks/bookmarklets.html).

(Also, the "View comment pages in your journal style?" option in
http://www.livejournal.com/editinfo.bml is lovely.)

that's probably spiffy if one runs safari (i don't), but this comment breaks the comment page and recent comments, so i am deleting it. sorry! am gonna repost it without code-ifying so it wraps along with everything else.

[livejournal.com profile] ckd posted this nifty trick (which i deleted because it didn't wrap and therefore broke the comments page). if you use it, it's supposed to be all one line:
-+-+-+-

I've gone one farther and put a JavaScript bookmark onto Safari's bookmark bar, so I can just hit Cmd-9 and it'll restyle the page for me. If I could remember where I saw it, I'd point you at the original; instead, you'll have to do some cut & paste work since LJ won't let me sneak a JavaScript URL into a link.

javascript:if(location.hostname.indexOf('livejournal.com')%20%3E=%200)
{var%20qmark;%20if%20(location.search%20==%20'')
{qmark='?';}else{qmark='&';}location.href=location.href+qmark+'style=mine';}"

It should work in most JavaScript capable browsers.

Apologies for the wrapping problem.
