oh, that's a hard question because it's a huge field.

most of what i read is m/m, and i like it very smutty, though i still prefer some character development with my smut (though i have read fair bit of not-very-smutty, heavy on story m/m romance).

when it comes to m/f romance i'm very little read, except for regencies, which i used to consume like ice cream, and a few other historicals and gothics.

there's also a rising number of menage romance (mostly m/f/m), and while that makes me happy from a poly point of view, sexually it doesn't turn my crank, so i haven't read much of it.

what do you usually like to read? read any fan fiction? do you prefer the long form, or novella / novelette / short stories? how much sex do you want to read about? any preferences / turnoffs?

oh, and i should probably ask "western or eastern" and "prose or graphics"? there's cactusloads of more or less romantic/smutty BL (boyslove) manga and also BLnovels, some of which have been translated. i generally find the translated novels insipid, unfortunately; worse than most western smut. but some of the manga is excellent.
