Not sure if this counts for your list: on Thursday, in an interview with NPR, Chertoff denied any knowledge of or plans to help the people trapped in the Convention Center - while the anchor interviewing him had a reporter on the other line who was there trying to tell him how bad it was. My memory says reports about that situation had been on the news for a day or so by then.
