piranha: red origami crane (plagiarism)
http://www.cassandraclaire.com/ right now redirects to amazon.com's copy of pamela dean's the secret country. which those of you interested in fantasy might want to read if you haven't yet. the trilogy is one of my favourite YA fantasies.

i am laughing my ass off. whoever bought that domain is inspired.

if you have no idea what this refers to, cassandra claire is a harry potter fan fiction author who plagiarized from pamela's work. (plagiarized from? is that the right preposition, or does it even have one? too tired to google.)

if you actually want to catch up with that story, there is a new account of it in journalfen's bad_penny community, in several sections under the title "The Cassandra Claire Plagiarism Debacle". beware, it's not as entertaining as the msscribe story, and the actual evidence is embedded in some grudge wank. i was mostly interested because i heard of it on usenet way back when it originally happened, but never knew the extent of it. and whoa, is there extent. i got pissed off all over again.
